		<description>Cognitive dissonance is how Bujold described it. I felt the same way, when I was walking past a guy selling live chickens out of crates, in order to get to an internet cafe, in Luxor. And being confronted with a very old-style toilet in an older part of up-to-the-minute Taipei. You expect things to be different; when they are  almost, but not quite, like the things at home, it creates a weird feeling.
